Mike Walsh, P.ENG.

Principal

Mike is a civil engineer with over 30 years of experience in both the public and private sectors. A UBC graduate (1991), he brings a practical, solutions-driven approach to the design, construction, and management of civil infrastructure, with a focus on long-term value and performance.

Before founding Skmana Engineering, Mike held senior roles with the BC Ministry of Transportation, where he led multi-disciplinary teams and provided technical leadership in geotechnical engineering, construction oversight, and emergency response. Today, his work spans foundation and subdivision design, landslide and geohazard investigation and remediation, slope stability analysis, drainage and flood hazard assessments—bringing together deep technical expertise with a hands-on, collaborative approach.

A lifelong outdoors enthusiast, Mike spends his free time skiing, hiking, and climbing throughout BC.

Jasper Taylor, E.I.T. (Junior Engineer)

Jasper Taylor, E.I.T., is a Junior Engineer who graduated from Carleton University in 2023. He supports geotechnical projects in both field and office settings, bringing a practical, analytical approach to site investigation, data interpretation, and design support.

Jasper contributes to geotechnical investigations, fieldwork, and analysis across a range of projects, assisting with foundation and earthworks design, subsurface characterization, and construction-phase support. He approaches each project with curiosity and a focus on clear, constructable engineering solutions.

An avid outdoor recreation enthusiast, Jasper spends his free time climbing, hiking, backcountry skiing, backpacking, mountain biking, and running. He is often seeking out steep terrain and long days in the outdoors.
